Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera, fam. Solanaceae) is commonly known as “Indian Winter cherry” or “Indian Ginseng”. It is one of the most important herb of Ayurveda used for millennia.​

It enhances the function of the brain and nervous system and improves the memory. It improves the function of the reproductive system promoting a healthy sexual and reproductive balance. Being a powerful adaptogen, it enhances the body's resilience to stress. Ashwagandha improves the body's defense against disease by improving the cell-mediated immunity. It also possesses potent antioxidant properties that help protect against cellular damage caused by free radicals.

Bael Fruit ( Belli Fruit )

Aegle marmelos (L.) Correa (A. marmelos), commonly known as Bael belonging to the family Rutaceae, has been widely used in indigenous systems of Indian medicine due to its various medicinal properties.

 

Extensive experimental and clinical studies prove that Aegle marmelos possesses antidiarrhoeal, antimicrobial, antiviral, radioprotective, anticancer, chemopreventive, antipyretic, ulcer healing, antigenotoxic, diuretic, antifertility and anti-inflammatory properties, which help it to play role in prevention and treatment of many disease. 

Iramusu

Hemidesmus indicus also known as Anantha

Hemidesmus indicus (Iramusu) (L) R.Br. belonging to the Asclepiadaceae family, commonly known as Indian sarsaparilla, is a twining shrub that has been used as folk medicine and as an ingredient in Ayurvedic and Unani preparations against diseases of blood & inflammation.

 

 The root has been used for treating blood diseases, diarrhea, respiratory disorders, skin diseases, syphilis, fever, bronchitis, asthma, eye diseases, epileptic fits in children, kidney and urinary disorders, loss of appetite, burning sensation, rheumatism and in gastric ailments.The root extract also has potent chemo protective anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and antioxidant properties.

Ranawara Flowers (Cassia Auriculata)

Cassia auriculata L. (Family: Caesalpiniaceae) is a shrub with large bright yellow flowers found growing wild in central and western India and cultivated in other areas of the country.

 

The root cures tumors, skin diseases, and asthma; leaves are anthelmintic, good for ulcers, diarrhea, and leprosy; and the flowers are used in the treatment of urinary discharge, diabetes, and dysentery. C. auriculata is also one of the major components of a beverage called “kalpa herbal tea” which has been widely consumed by people suffering from diabetes mellitus, constipation, and urinary tract diseases.

An alternative preparation for diabetes medication is a mixture called “avarai panchaga choornam” which is prepared from dried and powdered plant parts and commonly used for opthalmia, conjunctivitis, diabetes, and urinary infections.

Nelli fruit (Phyllanthus Emblica)

Phyllanthus emblica is a tree indigenous to tropical regions of Southeast Asia. The tree produces a fruit commonly known as Indian Gooseberry or Amla.

 

The Phyllanthus emblica fruit (also known as Emblica officinalis) or extract from these fruits has been used in traditional medicine for generations to treat symptoms ranging from constipation to the treatment of tumors [7]. Most commonly, the gooseberry was employed as a gentle laxative. However, the potential of Phyllanthus emblica extract to be utilized as an anticancer agent has been scrutinised using modern medical techniques over the past two decades. To date, there is substantial evidence that these extracts contain small molecules with both cancer-preventative and antitumor activity.

Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a common spice used by different cultures around the world for several centuries. It is obtained from the inner bark of trees from the genus Cinnamomum, CZ, also known as Ceylon cinnamon (the source of its Latin name, zeylanicum) or ‘true cinnamon’ is indigenous to Sri Lanka and southern parts of India

 

Humans from different parts of the world have demonstrated numerous beneficial health effects of CZ, such as anti-inflammatory properties, anti-microbial activity, reducing cardiovascular disease, boosting cognitive function and reducing risk of colonic cancer.

Turmeric

Turmeric, a plant related to ginger, is grown throughout India, other parts of Asia, and Central America.Historically, turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine, primarily in South Asia, for many conditions, including breathing problems, rheumatism, serious pain, and fatigue. Today, turmeric is used as a dietary supplement for inflammation; arthritis; stomach, skin, liver, and gallbladder problems; cancer; and other conditions.

 

  • Preliminary studies found that curcuminoids may

    • Reduce the number of heart attacks bypass patients had after surgery

    • Control knee pain from osteoarthritis as well as ibuprofen did

    • Reduce the skin irritation that often occurs after radiation treatments for breast cancer.

  • Other preliminary studies in people have looked at curcumin, a type of curcuminoid, for different cancers, colitis, diabetes, surgical pain, and as an ingredient in mouthwash for reducing plaque.

  • The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) has studied curcumin for Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and prostate and colon cancer.

Ginger

Ginger (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) is one of the most commonly consumed dietary condiments in the world (Surh et al. 1999). The oleoresin (i.e., oily resin) from the rhizomes (i.e., roots) of ginger contains many bioactive components, Which is the primary pungent ingredient that is believed to exert a variety of remarkable pharmacological and physiological activities

​Ginger has been used for thousands of years for the treatment of numerous ailments, such as colds, nausea, arthritis, migraines, and hypertension.

A strong Antioxidant , ginger is also Anti-inflammatory, is an anti-nausea agent, Anti-carcinogenic and has Cardiovascular benefits.

Coriander

Coriandrum sativum L. (CS), commonly known as coriander, is an annual herb belonging to the family Apiaceae (Umbelliferae) that has been extensively cultivated for centuries in many temperate climates such as the Middle East, Latin American, Africa, and Asia.

Studies have found that CS has hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, hepatoprotective, antimutagenic, antihypertensive, Dermatological effects of CS include anti-inflammatory activity in erythema induced by ultraviolet (UV) light and antioxidant effects.

Hibiscus

Hibiscus sabdariffa(HS)-derived polyphenols are known to ameliorate various obesity-related conditions.This multi-targeted mechanism includes the regulation of energy metabolism, oxidative stress and inflammatory pathways, transcription factors, hormones and peptides, digestive enzymes, as well as epigenetic modifications.

Compounds of Hibiscus sabdariffa extract have been shown to attenuate atherosclerosis through several mechanisms such as the antioxidative activity, inhibition of LDL oxidation, and smooth muscle cell proliferation.

Cardamom

Cardamom is a well-known spice in Indian subcontinent, used in culinary and traditional medicine practices since ancient times.Cardamom is a good source of volatile oils, fixed oils, phenolic acids and sterols.

cardamom is used as carminative, stomachic, diuretic, antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and is considered useful in treatment of constipation, colic, diarrhea, dyspepsia, vomiting, headache, epilepsy and cardiovascular diseases

Fenugreek

 Trigonella foenum graecum (fenugreek) is traditionally applied to treat disorders such as diabetes, high cholesterol , wound inflammation, and gastrointestinal ailments .

Fenugreek is also reported to have anticancer properties due to its beneficial active chemical constituents. It’s mechanism of action is similar to several anticancer drugs, and is based on an ability to induce apoptosis.

Mint

Mentha leaves have traditionally been used as tea in the treatment of headache, fever, digestive disorders and various minor ailments . Furthermore, mint essential oils have been widely used in the treatment of mild-intensity fungal and bacterial infections of human skin, headache syndromes and postherpetic neuralgia. In modern medicine, Mentha species are widely used in the treatment of gastrointestinal tract disorders. For example, Mentha longifolia (L.) methanolic extract, rich in eucalyptol, showed antiulcer activity against acetic acid-induced colitis, perhaps attributed to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, although the observed effect was not dose-dependent. The anti-inflammatory effect of mint essential oils is being corroborated by some clinical studies; for example, M. spicataessential oil is able to reduce pain in osteoarthritis patients.

Lemongrass

Cymbopogon citratus, Stapf (Lemon grass) is a widely used herb in tropical countries, especially in Southeast Asia.

Studies indicate that Cymbopogon citratus possesses various pharmacological activities such as anti-amoebic, antibacterial, antidiarrheal, antifilarial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties. Various other effects like antimalarial, antimutagenicity, antimycobacterial, antioxidants, hypoglycemic and neurobehaviorial have also been studied
